Zylkène is a complementary supplement for cats and dogs that can help provide support in situations where behavioural adaptation is required. It contains a natural product, derived from casein, a protein in milk that is well known to promote the relaxation of newborns after breastfeeding. Zylkène has become a familiar product for veterinary surgeons, behaviourists, nurses and pet owners for use in helping pets cope when facing unusual and unpredictable situations or before occasions such as a change in their normal environment. Example situations include kennel and cattery stays, house moves, arrival of a new pet or baby, sudden noises e.g. fireworks, travel, vet or groomer visits and Christmas festivities. Zylkène is preservative and lactose free
Zylkène is palatable and easy to give; simply open the capsule and mix the palatable powder with food or a treat. Give just once a day.
Recommended daily amounts are:
Up to 5kg: one 75mg capsule
5kg to 10kg: two 75mg capsules
10kg to 15kg: one 225mg capsule
15kg to 30kg: two 225mg capsules
15kg to 30kg: one 450mg capsule
30kg to 60kg: two 450mg capsules
Ideally Zylkène supplementation should be started a few days before required, for example before the fireworks season begins or before a kennel or cattery stay.
For long term scenarios such a new born baby into the family, Zylkène should be given for a minimum of 1-2 months or even longer if necessary.
